GCHS and GCES students were treated to an awesome performance by the GSU Brass and Percussion Ensembles Thursday afternoon. It was a musical journey filled with joy and inspiration, creating a vibrant atmosphere that resonated with all who attended. We are thankful for our partner in education, Glenville State University, for the invitation to enjoy this performance and to Dr. Jason Barr for the photographs!

Mr. Wolfe's 8th Grade health class explored the systems of the human body through a fun and innovative project! Students designed their very own amusement parks, with each ride showcasing a different body system. After creating portfolios that demonstrated their ideas, students pitched their park ideas to various judges for a chance to win "Wolfe Bucks"! Wolfe Bucks can be redeemed for awesome in-class rewards.

Attention parents of 10th grade students at GCHS: This is an important message from the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center concerning Thursday, November 16, 2023.
From: Mr. Bryan Sterns, Director
Mrs. Kyre-Anna Minney
Assistant Director
Dear CGCC Parents/Guardians,
On Thursday, November 16, 2023, we will be inviting our local high school 10th-grade students to visit here at Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center. We will be hosting 10th graders from Calhoun Middle High School in the morning and hosting 10th graders from Gilmer County High School in the afternoon.
This event will allow for our 10th-grade students from both counties to visit Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center to meet and talk with our instructors, visit each CTE lab/classroom, observe other students in hands-on simulated workplace experiences, and have an opportunity for in-person career explorations.
We certainly hope this to be an enjoyable visit for your 10th grader providing ideas and inspiration for their future college and career choices and plans.
Students will leave from and will return to their home high schools in order to depart on their evening bus by the end of the day. There is no cost for students to attend, and lunch will be provided at their high school as on a normal day.
All 10th graders will be attending unless you as the parent/guardian contact your high school to notify the office otherwise. If students do not attend the field trip, they will be counted absent.
Please contact your 10th grader's high school office by Wednesday, November 15, 2023, if you do not want your 10th grader to participate.
Otherwise, this is a notification that your 10th grader will be attending the field trip to CGCC on Thursday, November 16. We look forward to seeing them here at the center.

🌞🍕 Our 7th graders rocked their Solar Oven STEM Project for the end of our Energy Unit!! With the help of Pizza Hut's generous donations of pizza boxes, students transformed the boxes into solar ovens and made delicious s'mores in the classroom. 😋🍫 We're not stopping here! These amazing solar ovens will be kept and taken to our complex this spring to observe the powerful effects of solar energy.

Missed school? Make sure to turn in your absence excuses ASAP!
Parents are granted five excuses per semester, covering various situations such as illness, family emergencies, court obligations, religious events, and more. Additionally, doctor excuses are unlimited, accommodating instances of illness, injury, isolation, medical appointments, and related circumstances. It's crucial to note that all absences do contribute to a student's "chronic absenteeism" rate.
Your note can be submitted through our online form located on the GCHS website and at: https://forms.office.com/r/ndmC69cAK8

Friendly Reminder!
Starting this evening, parent pickup will be relocated to the cafeteria doors due to floor maintenance and new bleacher installation. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. Thank you!

🎉Gilmer County High School Soars into STEAM Excellence with Inaugural STEAMtacular! 🚀
Gilmer County High School hosted its first ever STEAM Spectacular (STEAMtacular for short) to celebrate National STEAM day today! Students could participate in over 30 different stations that highlighted different areas of STEAM education.
Students were delighted by a vast array of activities ranging from engineering a bridge, building straw rockets, making art with robots, learning about computer hardware and software, exploding a pumpkin with rubber bands, drone flying lessons, virtual reality, and SO much more!
Students were rewarded with popcorn and cotton candy as a sweet treat for engaging in a full day of STEAM learning. In addition, students were entered into a prize raffle for their participation.
We would like to thank Mrs. Ashley Barker, Mrs. Brittany Duelley, and Mrs. Kelly Barr for all of their hard work in organizing and running the STEAMtacular. Additionally, we want to shout out all of the staff members, Communities in Schools, community partners, and student volunteers from the STEAM classes and student council for donating their time and effort to make this event a reality.
The STEAMtacular was a resounding success, and we hope to make such a fun day an annual tradition.
A more detailed article about the event is coming soon, but please enjoy these photos for now!
**special thanks to Mrs. Kelly Barr as well as Aubrey Buckius of Mr. Fisher's photography class for these photos**
