📅 **Monday:** **Shades of Gold** – Sport your most stylish sunglasses and shine in gold or metallic colors to match the Olympic torch’s vibrant glow!
📅 **Tuesday:** **Team USA** – Show your red, white, and blue as we kick off Homecoming week in style!
📅 **Wednesday:** **Gold Medal Glam** – Shine bright with your most glamorous Olympic-inspired jewelry and accessories. Think gold medals, sparkly rings, and glittering earrings!
📅 **Thursday:** **Divine Deities** – Step into ancient Greece and embrace the glory of the gods and goddesses! Each class will be assigned a god/goddess with a corresponding color to wear.
📅 **Friday:** **Toga Triumph Friday** – Don your finest toga and join us for a day of historical fashion! (Don’t forget, you MUST wear clothes under your toga!)

**Eligibility:**
- Little Miss/Mr. Titan: Ages 3-6
- Junior Miss/Mr. Titan: Ages 7-10

Attention students in grades 9-12: Are you bringing an out-of-county guest to the Homecoming dance? If so, you must turn in a Non-GCHS Dance Guest Application. These forms are available outside of the main office. You must have:
- a picture of your guest
- permission from the guest's principal
- a completed, signed form
These forms are due no later than October 4th, 2024.
Attention, Seniors!
Senior shirt order forms are due with money to Ms. Jones by Thursday, September 19th. Order forms can be picked up from the office or Ms. Jones. If you have any questions, email Ms. Jones at mdjones@k12.wv.us
Due to a scheduling conflict, there is no varsity volleyball game vs. South Harrison tonight.
This week in Mrs. McClain’s 8th grade WV History class, students will finish their unit on WV’s First People. A key highlight will be studying the Native American history of Gilmer County, where our students live. Mrs. McClain’s collection has been sourced from the Little Kanawha River area. The collection includes a generous loan from her neighbor, Doug Craig, who found many of these artifacts on his land. Students will get a hands-on opportunity to examine these real artifacts up close (see picture) and hold in their hands the shared history of our area. We hope this experience sparks a greater interest in history for our Gilmer County 8th graders! 🌟 #WVHistory #LocalArtifacts #StudentEngagement

Parents, Monday marks "Mid-Term" for the 1st Nine Weeks. Students will receive a midterm report in their 1st period class on Tuesday, September 17th.
During the day on Tuesday, September 17th, all 9th -12th grade students will be given a Data Folder in their ELA classroom. These folders will include:
- A letter home to parents/guardians
- Log sheet requesting signature from parent/guardian
- IXL reports for both Math and ELA
- Flyer for Afterschool Tutoring (starts Monday, September 16th, 3:30pm-5:30pm)
- WVGSA data from Spring 2024 when they were in 8th grade. (9th grade ONLY)
Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place this Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM.

After School Tutoring will begin at GCHS on Monday, September 16th. Students in grades 6th-12th may remain after school to receive help with homework or make up work from classes. Meet the tutors in the Commons Area at the end of the day. After school tutoring is provided Monday-Thursday, 3:30pm-5:30pm;.Two activity buses will be running for students needing a ride along the main routes in Gilmer. (Rt. 5/Rt. 33)

On this day, we give pause to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. As part of Celebrate Freedom week, students in social studies classes will explore the impact of this event, study the bravery of first responders, and reflect upon the indomitable American spirit that shone brightly in the days that followed. Let’s come together in the same spirit of compassion and solidarity as we pay tribute to those affected by this tragic event.
