🐐GOAT ALERT! 🌟
Mr. Wolfe's class was recognized with the superintendent's GOAT award for their innovative approach to peer conflict resolution! The Middle School team identified a need for students to navigate interpersonal challenges effectively. Wolfe's health classes — which have learning standards related to conflict resolution — tackled the problem head-on with a set of lessons that were laser-focused on effectively resolving disputes.
During the lessons, students engaged in a dynamic learning process. Starting with a staff-wide call for common conflict scenarios, Mr. Wolfe's classes collected 15 diverse situations. Afterwards, students rotated through different scenarios that were facilitated by guest mediators (Dr. Minney, Mrs. DeWall, Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Miller, Mr. Payne, and Mr. Haynes) in order to hone their problem-solving skills.
Through guided discussions and interactive exercises, students explored strategies for handling conflicts with empathy and maturity. At the conclusion of each session, the guest mediators provided feedback and led robust discussions about possible outcomes.
