There will be a parent meeting on Thursday, February 26 at 6:00 PM in the high school conference room.
Due to the regional game scheduled for that night, meeting attendees must enter and exit through the side door next to the main office. The regional game will begin at 7:00 PM, and ticket sales will start at 5:45 PM.
Please remember that players cannot participate in tryouts unless all paperwork is completed and turned in.

On Saturday, February 7, three GCHS students — Marelly Medrano, Catelynn Parsons, and Jobe Carter — participated in the Region II Solo & Ensemble Festival. They are the first students from our school to take part in this festival in quite some time, and they represented GCHS exceptionally well.
Jobe Carter, a freshman saxophonist, received a rating of 1, which is a Superior rating. He dedicated countless hours to preparation, and his hard work truly paid off. We are very proud of his accomplishment.
Marelly, Caty, and Jobe also joined together to perform a trio selection titled “Give My Regards to Broadway.” Their collaboration and preparation earned them a 1+, a Superior Plus rating.
The GCHS Music Department has enjoyed continued success this year, and these students have made two remarkable contributions to that achievement. Congratulations, and Go Titans!

This past week, five GCHS students — Jobe Carter, Maria Mincey, Sean McNeely, Marelly Medrano, and Catelynn Parsons — participated in the annual Marshall University High School Honor Band. These students traveled to Huntington for the three-day festival, which concluded with a final performance on Friday, February 20, showcasing everything they learned.
Marelly and Caty earned 1st chair on their respective instruments in the Wind Symphony Band, the top ensemble. This marks the first time in recent memory that GCHS students have been placed in the same top ensemble and earned 1st chair honors at this event.
As a freshman, Jobe Carter placed 3rd chair tenor saxophone in the Symphonic Band. He truly stood out and represented our school exceptionally well.
Sean McNeely earned 5th chair percussion in the Symphonic Band and performed a challenging woodblock solo with confidence. He was among many students who shared how much they enjoyed the experience.

📝 Students will have the opportunity to participate in the West Virginia Learning Environment Survey this Wednesday during Homeroom. The survey provides valuable feedback to help us continue improving our school environment. A passive permission form was sent home and should only be returned if you do NOT want your child to participate. Please contact the school with any questions.

The top 3 middle school homerooms with the best attendance for the month of January are: Mrs. Facemire (6th grade) with 96.9%, Mrs. Ramezan (7th grade) with 97.3% and for the FOURTH month in a row, Mrs. McHenry (8th grade) wins with 97%. They chose an ice cream party as their reward. Several homerooms are close behind- who will take the top honors for February?

GCHS sophomores have an exciting opportunity to participate in HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) this summer — a nationally recognized leadership seminar held right here at Glenville State University.
Each year, HOBY brings together motivated sophomores from across the country to:

➡️Hear from dynamic speakers
➡️Participate in service projects
➡️Build confidence, character, and connections
➡️Experience life on a college campus
Students are typically nominated by their school counselor based on leadership potential, character, and initiative.
