
Attention Students! Junior/Senior Prom is fast approaching on Saturday, April 20, and we have several important updates for you:
Out of County Guest Forms: If you plan on bringing a guest from out of county to the prom, please pick up the Out of County Guest forms from the office starting today, April 9, 2024. These forms must be returned by Friday, April 12, 2024, to allow time for administration approval.
Prom Picture Order Forms: Prom picture order forms are available in the office starting today, April 9, 2024.
Prom Royalty Sign Ups: Juniors and seniors interested in running for Prom Royalty can sign up with Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Miller in the CIS Room. The deadline for sign-ups is Tuesday, April 12, 2024. Remember, voting will occur during the prom festivities.
Prom Tickets: Beginning April 11, 2024, students can pick up Prom Ticket(s) during lunch in Mr. Yocum's Room. Please ensure your class dues for the entire year are paid to receive a ticket. This includes 9th and 10th grade guests. Dues may be paid to the following teachers:
12th Grade: Ms. Jones
11th Grade: Mrs. Huffman
10th Grade: Mrs. Beall
9th Grade: Mr. Yocum
Make sure to mark your calendars, complete necessary paperwork, and get ready for a memorable prom night!


Reminder for all students, parents, and guardians:
Monday, April 8th will be a PL day for Gilmer County High School. Students will not report to school while staff will engage in professional development sessions.
We are looking forward to seeing all students on Tuesday, April 9th!

Monday, April 8th will be a PL day for Gilmer County Schools. There will be Professional Learning for staff, while students remain at home. Glenville State University is hosting a Solar Eclipse event for families on the GSU main campus. If you are interested in attending these events, please read the information on the images included in this post, and contact Dr. Joe Evans, joe.evans@glenville.edu or Dr. Ashley Kooken, Ashley.Kooken@glenville.edu. Emailing them to make a reservation is recommended due to limited spaces. Those families who choose to participate, you are encouraged to park in Parking Lot K.

The varsity baseball game for tonight has been cancelled. It has been rescheduled for April 1, 5:00 PM at home.
The varsity softball game for tonight vs. Doddridge has been cancelled. We will reschedule it for Thursday March 28 at 5:00 p.m. The game with Webster on Thursday will move to 7:00 pm. So the schedule will be as follows:
5:00 vs. Doddridge
7:00 vs. Webster

Some updates:
The home varsity baseball game with Doddridge for tonight has been moved to 7:00 PM. Varsity softball will still host Doddridge at 5:00 PM for a Varsity Game only.
The Mini-Titan softball game for Wednesday, March 27 @ Doddridge has been cancelled.

Special note for Juniors: Please be sure to bring your device and charger on Friday, March 29 for collection in preparation for SAT School Day. SAT School Day will take place on April 10, 2024, and this collection ensures that all hardware and software is operational on test day.

Baseball and Softball Updates:
The home varsity softball game vs. Midland Trail scheduled for this Friday March 15 has been postponed.
Our varsity softball team will play Tygarts Valley at home on April 3. This game will start at 5:00 PM.
Updates from before:
The Mini-Titan Softball game vs. Ritchie that was scheduled for Thursday, March 14 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 19.
The Varsity Softball game at Braxton that was scheduled for March 13 has been rescheduled for April 1.
The Jr. High Baseball game that was scheduled for Saturday March 16, has been moved to April 4 at 5:00 p.m at Buckhannon.
Thursday, March 14 the Varsity Softball team will play Tucker at home for a scrimmage.

On March 19, 2024, Gilmer County High School 9-10th grade students will be taking the PSAT 9-10. Juniors and Seniors will be given the opportunity to job shadow on that day, either at a local business, or with their parents or other relatives. Those students who do not elect to participate in job shadowing that day will be placed in a study hall for the day. Career Center students coming to school that day will report to the Career Center as scheduled but will be placed in a study hall for the part of the day they are scheduled at GCHS.
Forms were provided for all Juniors and Seniors on Monday.
These forms need to be returned to Mr. Buckley or the Front Office by the end of the day tomorrow, March 14th. Please detach the top part of the form and return the bottom half after the job shadowing has occurred.

Join us next Wednesday for the GCHS Drama department's presentation of "Just Another Audition," written by Bryan Starchman! The performance will take place at 7:00 PM in the GCHS gym for the community. We invite you to come and show your support for our talented actors who have dedicated numerous after-school hours to perfecting their lines, crafting sets, and creating costumes for your enjoyment.

Any student in grades 9 and 10 that is interested in learning about the Grow Your Own Program at Glenville State University can sign up to attend Grow Your Own Day at GSU on Thursday, April 11th . Grow Your Own West Virginia is designed to seek promising local high school students and facilitate a career path for them to pursue a career in education. GYO students will be enrolled in dual credit education courses and can complete their education degree in 3 years with tuition fully paid for by the Department of Education.
Any students in grades 9 and 10 that are interested in either finding out more about the program or being a part of the program need to sign up with Mrs. Barr in E203 before March 29th .

Attention Juniors,
The United States Military Academy at West Point is hosting its Summer Leaders Experience (SLE), which is a one-week program for current Juniors (High School Class of 2025) to visit West Point in June.
Students in this program get to:
*Spend the week with the academy's cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall.
*Learn about West Point’s world class academics by trying 5 of our 17 academic workshops.
*Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!
*Challenge themselves physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports.
*Complete their admissions interview with a cadet.
*Spend the week making friends with other students from all over the US who are applying to West Point.
