7th and 8th grade students went on a field trip to The Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia in Charleston, WV today. The students enjoyed a variety of educational activities and had a blast doing it! Throughout the day they watched a film about Dinosaurs of Antarctica in the planetarium, completed a fossil expedition in the STEAM lab, and visited the museum's various interactive exhibits, such as the "medieval to metal" guitar exhibit. The Clay Center's staff was very complimentary of how respectful and conscientious our students were while within the facility.

STEAM EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT!
Last week, seventh and eighth grade students created probability games and hosted a math carnival for grades 2-5 at GCES. Students learned mathematical principles from both building and playing the games, as they were designed to demonstrate the impact of probability on a given outcome. We are proud of our students for developing such fun and innovative ways to learn math!

Your week at a glance: Titan Connect!
On Wednesday and Thursday, GCHS students and the local Girl Scout Troop were invited to attend the 2nd Annual Freedom Concert, which commemorates May 5th as the end of German occupation of the Netherlands during WWII and the role that America played in that liberation. Students, in conjunction with the American Rosie Movement, listened to the bells of the Netherlands Carillon — a 127-foot-tall musical monument. Speakers included Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, Ambassador André Haspels, and our very own Mrs. Ronni Facemire.
After the concert, students went on an educational tour of the various monuments and sights in the area.
A full press release is forthcoming early next week!
