Hey, Sophomores! Are you interested in attending HOBY? If so, please see Mrs. Fox!
HOBY's State Leadership Seminars welcomes school and community nominated students to 3–4-day seminars each spring and summer. These student ambassadors participate in facilitated dialogue and abilities-based workshops to develop awareness of their leadership strengths and an understanding of their leadership values. Through these dynamic activities with their peers, students hone their skills and learn to recognize, amplify, and collaborate with the diverse strengths of others. • Exhibits strong pro-social behaviors

• Interested in learning
• Has a positive mental attitude
• Encourages others
• Notices and tries to include other students
• Capable of rallying people
This morning, the West Virginia Batman, John Buckland, visited GCHS for an engaging assembly! In a powerful “mask off” session, he shared his personal journey, the struggles he’s faced, and how he was able to overcome them. His message of hope, resilience, and mental health awareness resonated with our students. He emphasized four key lessons:
🔵Never Give Up
🔵Always Do the Right Thing
🔵Help Others
🔵Never Be a Bully
A huge thank you to Mr. Buckland for taking the time to inspire and encourage our students today!
Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Please see the following flyer from the WVDE for more information.
Please see the following message about Texas Roadhouse rolls from Mrs. Barker:
Student Council Parents and Guardians:
Texas Roadhouse fundraising items were delivered Monday, November 18. We are storing the rolls and butter in the meat lab freezer at school. I do not want to send your student’s orders home without consent as they will thaw out if your student has a long drive. I will be staying after school this week for orders to be picked up by you or someone you trust. I will have everyone sign when orders are picked up for liability purposes. Please drive behind the school for pickup- you will find myself and/or a student council representative waiting with the meat lab door propped open to help distribute orders. I have copies of all order forms, so you do not need to worry about that aspect. If you cannot arrange pickup on the days listed, please contact me at school at 304-462-7960 ext. 137 or by e-mail ashley.butler@k12.w.vus to make other arrangements. If you wish for your child to bring their orders home after school, please sign this form below (see link) to take full responsibility for the products’ status.
Available dates/times:
Tuesday, November 19: 3:30-4:30
Thursday, November 21: 3:30-5:00
