📣 GCHS Parking Lot Update 📣
🚧 Reminder: There is ongoing work in the GCHS parking lot that impacts student parking spots 1-19. Students, please continue to park in the same spot as today to avoid any disruptions.

Gilmer County High School Parents and Students,
We want to inform you that due to necessary work in the student parking lot, parking spots 1-19 will temporarily be unavailable on Tuesday, November 12th, and Wednesday, November 13th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
To accommodate students, we will work to adjust parking on campus, and additional parking will also be available across from the public library. If students need to park at the library, staff will be present to supervise and assist students as they park and walk safely to the school.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we make these temporary adjustments.
On Veterans Day, we honor and thank those who have served in the military, recognizing their bravery, sacrifice, and dedication. Gilmer County High School extends its sincere gratitude to those courageous men and women who defend the freedoms and ideals that we cherish.
Attention students in grades 6-12 who have signed up or are interested in signing-up for for wrestling: There will be a meeting on Tuesday, November 12 at 5:00 PM. This meeting will take place at the wrestling building on Rt. 33.
Seniors had a blast at the annual "Senior Brunch" yesterday! They enjoyed a delicious breakfast with donuts, waffles, casseroles, coffee, and more, all while getting their senior portraits taken. Plus, they added their handprints to the "Goal to Graduate" banner, which will inspire our younger students all year long!
A special thank you to Mrs. Ashley Barker, Mr. Blair Fisher, and Ms. Melissa Jones for their tireless efforts and dedication in making this event a success for our seniors! Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

When: Wednesday, November 6
Time: 1st - 4th periods. Students will check in with their first period teachers upon arrival at school.
Where: STEAM Lab
What: Senior portraits (gymnasium), goal to graduation (handprints), senior superlatives, group photos, and time to eat and socialize with one another

2024 GCHS Halloween Costume Guidelines:
GOOD BEHAVIOR THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DAY IS EXPECTED. STUDENTS NEED TO DEMONSTRATE APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR TO THE ADULTS AT THIS SCHOOL IN ORDER FOR THIS TYPE OF CELEBRATION TO OCCUR IN THE FUTURE.
Students will only be able to wear Halloween Costumes to school on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
Costume Guidelines:
1. Students are to dress at home. Our bathrooms cannot accommodate all the people who would like to change into costumes.
2. Hair paint and make-up must be applied at home prior to arriving at school in the morning. Do not bring spray, gel, make-up, paint, glitter, etc. to school to be applied. It is subject to confiscation by a staff member. Classes will take place like normal, and you will not have time.
3. All school dress codes still apply. “Good taste is always in fashion.”
a. See page 27-28 in the handbook portion of the Gilmer County High School Handbook.
b. Costumes that are inappropriate for the school setting will not be allowed.
4. These restrictions include clothing with distasteful, bloody, and/or mutilation themes. Costumes that are violent in nature will not be allowed!
5. Clothing with vulgarity or inappropriate language or is demeaning will not be allowed.
6. Hats that are worn must be part of an identifiable costume.
7. Two-person costumes are not acceptable.
8. Masks and full-face paint are not allowed.
9. Students may not bring pogo sticks, skateboards, roller blades, stilts, or live animals as part of their costumes.
10. Costumes that contain weapons will not be allowed. Weapons include but are not limited to (Guns, knives, scythes etc.)
*****Staff members are also encouraged to participate—have fun!*****
