A message from GCHS about General Summative Assessment:
4 months ago, Gilmer County High School
Dear Middle School Families, We want to take a moment to remind you that the West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA) is scheduled for next week for all middle school students. This is an important time for students to demonstrate everything they’ve learned and how much they’ve grown over the school year. We’re proud of the hard work they’ve put in, and we’re excited to see them rise to the challenge! The WVGSA provides valuable insight into each student’s academic progress and helps us better support them moving forward. The staff at Gilmer County High School believe in our students and their ability to succeed. We’ve seen their progress firsthand, and we are confident they are ready to do their best. To help celebrate and encourage student success, we’re excited to share that there will be incentives, not only for meeting or exceeding grade-level goals, but also for showing individual growth and school growth from previous assessments. Every step forward counts, and we want to recognize students who give their best effort. As we approach testing week, we ask for your support in the following ways: •	Make sure your child gets a full night’s sleep before each day of testing. •	Please help your child be on time and present every day of testing. Attendance is critical. Also, don’t forget to review the WVGSA score access form that was sent home. This will allow you to view your child’s test results once they become available. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education. We’re proud of the effort our students have put into this year and look forward to seeing all they’ve accomplished reflected in their performance. With encouragement from home and school, we know they’ll do great. Go Titans! John T. Fox Principal Brandon Payne Assistant Principal

This week, the WV Treasury Department visited our 7th and 8th graders to present "Get A Life," a fun and eye-opening financial literacy simulation! 💸 Students started with "red cards" — jobs available in WV without post-secondary education — and quickly realized how tough it can be to cover expenses like cars, homes, insurance, and groceries. 🚗🏠📈 Most ended up in debt... until they switched to "green cards," representing careers that require college or trade school. With those, they were able to budget smarter and even save money! A big THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers who made this experience possible! 🙌 #FinancialLiteracy #FutureReady #LifeSkills #GoGilmer
