Congratulations to this group of 6th grade girls who successfully completed Lean In Girls with Mrs. Sponaugle! 🎉
Lean In Girls is a leadership program designed to help girls see themselves as leaders in a world that too often tells them otherwise — it’s all about GIRL POWER! 💪
Throughout the program, the group met weekly to build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, put their values into action, and step outside their comfort zones. To wrap up the program, each student selected an influential woman who made a difference and presented what they learned to an audience.
A special thank you to Dr. Minney, Traci DeWall, Kelly Barr, Cherri West, and Mischell Workman for serving as the audience and supporting these students during their presentations! #gogilmer #lovemywvschool

It’s always an exciting day when Mr. Barker visits Mrs. Barker’s social studies classes! 🎉
Students recently had the opportunity to learn about the Civil War with a special focus on artillery from Clayton Barker. A lifelong Civil War enthusiast, Clayton has studied the subject since elementary school, earned a degree in Civil War History from Shepherd University, and has served as a living historian for more than 20 years.
He brought in a variety of artifacts, books, equipment, and period clothing to give students a unique hands-on learning experience and bring history to life in the classroom!

🎓📸 Last week, our seniors celebrated Senior Spirit Week with a full week of fun and creativity!
Monday kicked things off with College & Career Day, followed by Decade Day on Tuesday. Wednesday had the halls filled with “senior citizens,” and Thursday students dressed like their homeroom teachers. Friday was First Day of Kindergarten Day, although many seniors were already in costume preparing for the Senior Showcase!
Thank you to our seniors for making the week so memorable and full of school spirit!
