🏆 Titan Cross Country Runners Qualify for States! 🏆
We are so proud of our GCHS boys and girls cross country teams! 🏃♀️🏃♂️ Both teams competed in the regional championships this past Saturday, and our Titans gave it their all.
The girls team qualified for the State Cross Country Championships, and Reidyn Dennison qualified individually on the boys side. The boys team came just one runner short of qualifying as a full team.
This is a historic accomplishment for our school, as this is the first time in GCHS history that the entire girls cross country team has qualified for the State Championships! 🎉
Congratulations to all our runners and coaches on an outstanding season and a job well done. We are proud of you!

Perfect attendance pays off!
At the end of each nine weeks, all students who achieve perfect attendance are entered into a drawing for a prize. For the first nine weeks, 35 middle school students and 20 high school students earned perfect attendance!
Their names were entered into a prize wheel, and congratulations to our winners, Hailey Short and Jayden Tingler! Each student received a $50 gift certificate to the movie theater, thanks to the generous donation from Minnie Hamilton Health System.
Congratulations to Hailey and Jayden, and thank you to Minnie Hamilton for supporting our students!
Regular attendance plays an important role in student success. Please continue encouraging your students to attend school every day!

Students in Mrs. Ramezan’s science class have wrapped up their investigations into how energy is released in the human body and are now exploring energy in other systems.
As they begin their Force and Motion unit, students are investigating five ways to change the motion of an object. Today, they used a variety of manipulatives to explore the cause-and-effect relationship between force and velocity. Their focus was determining how the strength of a force affects the change in velocity of a jar lid.

Mrs. Wine's Regional Careers 8 class had the opportunity to welcome Logan Harrison, Glenville State University ARC Grant Career Counselor, for an exciting look into careers in technology!
Students learned about technology as one of West Virginia's fastest-growing career fields and explored the wide variety of job opportunities available right here in the Mountain State. They also got some hands-on experience with VR headsets, taking virtual tours of West Virginia college campuses and employers while getting a glimpse of where their education and future careers could take them.

Beginning Monday, October 19, Gilmer County High School will adjust its morning tardy schedule.
